IE7

This is a very different IE, I'm not sure I like it though, but I will give it a try.

And and it doesn't like my anti Spyware program Spy Sweeper, they lock each other.

  • I bet it works great with MS's spyware software :)
Interested to hear your thoughts on IE7.

  • Initial thoughts:

It has tabbed browsing, and about time too. It has a button at the right hand end of the tabs, to open a new tab, it took me ages to find it because it only looks like it does in the Help when you move the mouse over it.

It doesn't have conventional Windows menus, which is a bit strange to start with.

    It seems quite fast.

Netvibes doesn't work in the same way IE6 doesn't (mostly missing Icons on Tabs, and totally missing Blogger posts).

Protopage (ditto about IE6 & 7) won't work if the web page you have set up requirted a login.

More if I persevere with it.

  • Another thing, to open a link in a new Tab, you either hold Ctrl down and left-click, or just middle-click (using the scroll wheel) - very strange. Midddle-click on a Tab closes it too. I have never seen anything else that uses this technique.

  • I have been using this a bit, and it is fast. And it has one thing that I like, the same as Opera, it has the ability to re-open pages which were open when it closed, when it next starts up. If you see what I mean.

  • Another thing - it has changed the way fonts are displayed, not just in IE7 but everywhere on the PC. It is an improvement, they look clearer. It might be ClearType. I can't capture an example of this, obviously.

  • It's sounding promising. As much as I love Firefox, I don't agree with the speed claims. I am sure that IE always runs faster unless you are running a completely basic Firefox without any extensions or tweaks which is kind of pointless.
Firefox does the middle click > new tab trick (which I knew) and also the middle click on a tab to close which I had never realized before.
